viewing the images

By the way if anyone hasn't worked it out for themselves already - if you click on the images you will see them in larger size.

Edit --- Also clicking on the slide show image above will take you to the web album of all the shots from the outings - I would say rejected ones but that would not do them justice. Steve.

Weekend of 6th & 7th November 2010 - Steve

First decision is I am not starting my Blog entry with "Well"...
What a ridiculously difficult task we set ourselves, not taking the photo every month, but choosing the subject of the photograph! I have been changing my mind every five minutes and I still am not sure if I have made a wise decision... only time will tell I guess.
So I went out Saturday morning and travelled to Castres, and then the Forest of Bouconne in the search of that elusive subject shot, and I finally (although still not sure) decided on this one. The reasons are I wanted something that would change throughout the year and I didn't want to be distracted by the wonderful Autumnal foliage that some of my shots around the forest found, having been there at various times before I also know the water stays a pretty murky colour throughout the year!

So the chosen shot... A view across a vast swathe of French countryside from La Castre which is a fabulous little village perched on the top of a hill. Although it was a hazy morning, overcast (by the time I got to the forest it was fantastic sunshine!) and the view is a little flat - I am hoping that my planning ahead, will reveal some wonderful colour changes over the year. (need to check my bearings and hope the Pyrenees may make it in...)
Also as there were few sunflowers grown this year, just maybe next year is sunflower year and the fields could potentially be brilliant!

Details of the picture are Canon EOS 400D - 28-135 locked at 28mm; 1/400@10.0

Weekend of 6th & 7th November 2010 ~ MIke

Well as Sally has said we were talking on Friday and she mentioned this blog/project and I thought it was excellent, really love the idea. When she asked if I wanted to join in I was most excited and accepted immediately without hesitation. I am really looking forward to see how this unfolds over the next 12 months.

So a bit about my choice of scene and my day obtaining the image. I started to think about possible places and possible types of places. I also wanted to take on board other criteria. I eventually decided on one of two types of scene and these were either a church or a cemetery. So I headed off to Bury(Greater Manchester) cemetery on a cool but sunny and lovely morning.

I decided to add a level of discipline to my 1st shot and resolved to only use prime (non Zoom) lenses for my 1st shoot - so I headed off with My two canon 50D's and Canon 28mm f2.8 and Canon 50mm f1.8 Lenses. I got some nice shots and have settled for the above.

Shot settings: ISO 200 1/1600 sec at f3.2 on the 28mm lens

Weekend of 6th & 7th November 2010 - Sally

Well! Finally! Here it is!! I've been thinking about doing this for about a year, mentioned it to Steve last weekend, and here it is! Then I mentioned it to Mike ~ and hooray! He's joined too!! So for the first photo from me: I've chosen Pednor to take my monthly pic! The whole idea started because of 2 shots I took in Pednor, on the way to work in January this year (2010) ~ both of which I will upload (later!) and I decided it might be fun/interesting/geeky (!!) to see how the scene changed over the course of a year.

Today's photo's ~ the weather was a typical Autumnal day ~ bright blue skies, late Autumn sunshine and a chilly 10 degree's!! In the pic you will see that there is a bin and a barrow in front of the pond. I didn't think I'd like this ~ but I do! I learned today that this pond is privately owned ~ which I didn't know ~ and I kind of like the fact that somebody looks after this picturesque beauty spot.

What is it

An attempt to have the same photograph taken every month from the same spot - to start with there will be an image from both France and England... maybe in time there will be others.

Watch this spot...

First upload next weekend the 6th or 7th of November 2010.
